Red Ball Convoy

Red Ball 2024

Here are some tentative details on Red Ball for 2024

2024’s Red Ball will be held the 1st weekend of May 2024 and will be centered around Mammoth Springs State Park, Arkansas. You can find more information on the park at:  https://www.arkansasstateparks.com/parks/mammoth-spring-state-park

Mammoth Spring State Park | Arkansas State ParksA National Natural Landmark, Mammoth Spring is one of the world’s largest springs with nine million gallons of water flowing hourly. It forms a 10-acre lake then runs southward as the Spring River, a famous Ozark trout and float stream. Remnants of a mill and hydroelectric plant are part of Mammoth Spring’s history. The park also features an 1886 Frisco train depot and museum. Adding to the things to do here are a playground, picnic area, baseball field, walking trail, Arkansas Welcome Center, and gift shop. www.arkansasstateparks.com

We’re changing things up for 2024 and all the details are yet to be fully ironed out but here is some information you can review:

We expect to have folks be able to arrive on the previous Thursday (or whenever you want for that matter). We plan on having activities perhaps on Thursday evening and then on Friday and Saturday.

We will NOT have a host hotel- we WILL provide a list of accommodations in the area for you to make arrangements with.

We will plan on one organized “convoy” of 50 or so miles. Other rides and/or activities will be ad lib and in general will be more relaxed. If we want to make a stop somewhere along the way, we will.

There will be a static display that will be held mid-morning to mid-afternoon on the grounds of Mammoth Springs State Park. During that time we’ll grill some burgers and dogs and provide drinks for participants. This will be done at the pavilion located within the park.

Other than the burgers and dogs provided during the static display we do not plan on providing meals. We can arrange to meet in groups at local eateries for breakfast and dinner and perhaps stop for lunch during a jaunt or two.

We plan on not being on a strict time-table so we have more flexibility.

The old downtown section of Hardy is not too far and might make for a good run for lunch. Similar may be done up to Thayer, MO.

We will have a nominal fee to offset the cost of burgers and dogs and the pavilion rental. That has yet to be determined but we’ll keep it as minimal as possible.

More details will be supplied once we have them, and registration forms will be posted and/or sent out.

Thank you,

Jerome
